Kaxaan Nautical Foundation

Nautical Museum Isla Margarita

Showcase the nautical heritage in the surrounding waters highlighting; Tom Sawyers SS Independence, SS Indiana, US H1 Submarine, Flora & Fauna of the region.

Objective:

  • Provide Educational center for locals and visitors.
  • Empower local fishing community to become custodians of their Nautical Heritage.
  • Diversify Economy to include sustainable tourism.

Grand Opening 1st quarter 2023.

Living Museum US H1 Seawolf Submarine

March 12, 1920 the Seawolf ran aground, the Captain and three crew members perished trying to reach shore. Living Museums are designed to protect Nautical Heritage and the associated marine ecosystem. This will be Mexico’s 1st.

Objective:

  • Establish permanent mooring over site
  • Remove all remaining fishing traps and lines
  • Lay plaque to memorialize the tragedy and educate visitors on the reverance of this wreck site
  • Promote site preservation thru
  • Stewardship of local fishermen
  • Awareness Campaign towards local dive shops
  • Diversify Economy to include sustainable tourism

Nautical Museum Villa Rica, Veracruz

In 1520 Hernan Cortes facing a mutiny amongst his crew ordered the sinking of his fleet off this coastal village. These galleon have been lost in time and buried under 500 years of sand and silt. We have started to uncover those long lost ships, to date 3 anchors have been located.

Objective:

  • Establish Villa Rica as Mexico’s Plymouth Rock.
  • Provide Educational center for locals and visitors.
  • Empower local community to become custodians of their Nautical Heritage.
  • Diversify and broaden their economy to include sustainable tourism.
